Why This Is Important
Your support for the nomination and designation of the Greenwood Historical District in Tulsa, Oklahoma as a National and State Register of Historic Places will become a key component for the enrichment and empowerment of possibilities for economic development to occur within the Greenwood area boundaries as outlined in the 1921 Tulsa Race Riot Reconnaissance Survey Report of 2005: North: Midland Valley Railroad Tracks north to Pine Street, South: Frisco Railroad Tracks, First Street just off of Archer Street. East: Lansing Street. West: Cincinnati Avenue beginning at Archer Street and extending to Elgin Avenue. This historic nomination will allow preservation, honor, pride and recognition of the prosperity of Black Wall Street, known by some as “Negro Wall Street,” and the community of Greenwood before and after the massacre of The 1921 Tulsa Race Riot. The hard work that has gone into this process from the many partners involved has created a sense of excitement for the city and the north Tulsa community. Your involvement will be added to this great momentum. Moreover, it will lend to creative development ideas and the ability to share historical information of the district’s commercial model that became known worldwide as Black Wall Street on Greenwood.

I think that this is important to preserve this to remind us of our grisly past, make sure we don’t make the same...
